Welcome Message
from the Technical Program Chairman

On behalf of both organizing and program committees, it is a great pleasure to welcome all delegates, representatives and participants from around the world to the 2009 International Conference on Radar Systems at Bordeaux, France. The choice of Bordeaux was conducted both by the aerospace and Radar industrial network and by the cultural aspect. Especially the Dinner Gala will take place in the famous castle, Château Laffitte Laguens.
The conference is organized in the frame of the international relations set up between the Institution of Engineering and Technology - IET, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers - IEEE, the Chinese Institute of Electronics - CIE, the Institut Français de Navigation - IFN, the Institution of Engineers Australia - IEAust and the SEE.
More than 216 published papers from 25 countries testify the world wide interest of Radar community. The number of submitted and accepted papers was equally distributed between Universities, Industries and Government Agencies. Remarkable is, 40% of the papers are from non-European countries.
The Plenary Session put emphasis on the state of art, progress over the past decade and the future evolutions. The Technical Program covers all the main topics of Radar research and techniques, such as active antenna, bistatic technology, SAR, signal processing, UWB, radar management techniques, STAP, low frequency radar and FOPEN. Half of the papers is presented in Oral Sessions, half in Poster Sessions. Poster Sessions give real opportunities for fruitful exchanges, contacts between authors and delegates and appropriate discussions to launch further cooperation.
The technical program also includes a young author’s paper competition, organized by the Awards Chair, Dr. Myriam Nouvel. This paper competition based on 75 applicants is to encourage and promote the interest of young engineers in radar.
I would like to acknowledge all the Technical Program Committee members for their hard work, in evaluating the 318 submissions. I also give my thanks to Authors and co-Authors, for their tremendous effort and scientific contribution. It has been a privilege to work with you for preparing the Conference Program.
The following Radar Conferences are also on the right way and we will be happy to meet you again in 2014 in France!
